FAQ

General

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant compounds found in the hemp plant. CBD oil is non-intoxicating, has no known adverse side effects, and is virtually impossible to lethally overdose.

Hemp-derived medicine has been traditionally used across many cultures for centuries. For years, CBD had been neglected while recreational and medical users and scientists focused on the mind-altering chemical, THC. Today, scientists around the world are studying all of the hundreds of therapeutic chemical compounds naturally found in hemp.

How does CBD work?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a collection of cell receptors within a mammal's body. Scientists discovered this system in the 1990s. Phytoannabinoids work with the mammalian Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a vast receptor system that helps support homeostasis and health. This receptor system exists in the immune system, the central nervous system, and within many organs. The ECS accepts our bodies' own endocannabinoids as well as the phytocannabinoids found in hemp.

The ECS is designed to support cells and healthy immune system function, despite fluctuations in our external environment. A human's endocannabinoid system affects many regions of the body, including functions of the immune system, the central nervous system (including the brain), organs, connective tissue, and glands. The ECS supports various biological tasks, including energy & balance, immune function, memory, metabolism, sleep, and the function of the autonomic nervous system.

A phytocannabinoid is a compound that fits into a phytocannabinoid receptor. Hemp produces over 80 different cannabinoids that work to support the endocannabinoid system.

Reed’s Remedies products include a range of beneficial compounds found in hemp, including phytocannabinoids and other phyto-compounds (such as terpenes and flavonoids) that work to support your health. To support our bodies endocannabinoids, Reed's Remedies natural phyto-cannabinoids can be introduced to support the ECS's major receptors, CB1 and CB2. This helps to maintain proper balance, allowing for immune system support.

What are Cannabinoids?

They are chemical compounds secreted by the hemp plant (and all cannabis plants), which include CBD, THC, CBN, GBG, and over 80 others. These molecules work their medicinal magic by imitating compounds our bodies naturally produce, called endocannabinoids, which activate to maintain internal stability and health. To put a complex system simply, they mediate communication between cells, and when there is a deficiency or problem with our endocannabinoid system, unpleasant symptoms and physical complications occur.

What is full spectrum, broad or wide spectrum, and isolate?

Reed’s Remedies contain the “full spectrum” cannabinoids. This means CBD, THC, and all other naturally occurring cannabinoids are left in our final formulas. In a 2015 study, researchers found, in comparison to CBD isolate, full spectrum CBD offers higher levels of relief. We believe that our customers should have access to whole plant medicine rather than an isolate, which is just the singular extracted compound. Broad or wide spectrum is hemp extract that preserves the naturally-occurring cannabinoids except for THC, which is removed during processing. CBD isolate is an extract that is processed so far that it removes all of the naturally occurring chemical compound and leaves behind just the CBD powder.

Where does Reed’s Remedies source their hemp from?

We have created a meaningful relationship with our Colorado farmers to ensure you’re getting the best quality remedies possible while being kind to our planet. Our organically sun-grown hemp is never treated with chemicals or pesticides and is watered using drip irrigation, saving this precious resource. Our farm partner is one of just 13 in the country to earn the U.S. Hemp Authority seal of approval, the organization which sets the standard for quality and safety in the industry.

Why are Reed’s Remedies steam distilled vs. the common extraction method?

We use a proprietary method of distillation that condenses the desired plant compounds and removes all of the plant waste, leaving a 99% pure concentrate. We do this at the lowest possible temperature to protect the compounds while also activating them for immediate use in the body. This advanced technology provides the most potent, clean, and pure concentrate possible. The end result has a mild-flavored and golden profile.

The extraction method uses solvents to pull compounds out of the plant material. Examples of solvents are: butane, alcohol, glycerin, and oil. A great deal of plant waste is left behind resulting in a green color and stronger flavor. This product will be less potent meaning more needs to be consumed to get the same effect. There is also the likelihood of solvents remaining in the final product for consumption.

What ingredients are found in Reed’s Remedies oral sprays?

Steam distilled hemp oil, terpenes (compounds naturally occuring in hemp), and MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides) from coconuts. MCT is used as a healthy carrier oil that helps the body absorb and digest the hemp oil. There are no flavorings, sweeteners, or preservatives. They are naturally vegan, gluten free, and sugar free.

What is the difference between your oral spray formulas?

All of our formulas have the same distilled hemp oil in a MCT (medium-chain triglyceride from coconut) base. The difference is in their unique terpene profile. Each formula has an average of 30 terpenes in a unique formula to achieve a specific desired effect. The terpenes are naturally occurring plant compounds found in hemp in which we scientifically formulated to provide you with a precise and consistent outcome every time you use them.

Are Reed’s Remedies third-party lab tested?

Our products are third-party lab tested three times from the farm to finished product to ensure quality and safety. Every batch of organically sun-grown hemp is tested for potency, toxins from bacteria and fungus, pesticides, and heavy metals. Batch numbers and QR codes are found on each one of our products which will link to the full report. You may also find them here:
